2012 Super Bowl Odds

Author: Glen McNeil

The favorites are led by New England (+450), the defending champions from Green Bay (+500), New Orleans (+700), Pittsburgh (+850), and it's tough to argue with this group. The Patriots looked like the best team in the league for most of the season before running into the New York Jets (+1500) in the playoffs, while you would have received a sports betting bonus if you picked the Packers to win three road game en route to the Super Bowl. The Steelers should be as strong as they usually are next season, while the Saints will be out to prove that their Super Bowl win of two years ago wasn't a fluke, especially after they were upset in Seattle in the first round of the playoffs.
There are a lot of teams in the next tier, such as Indianapolis 2012 Super Bowl Odds (+1000), Baltimore (+1200), Philadelphia (+1400), Atlanta (+1500) and both New York teams (+1500). The Jets are the team to watch here after going to the AFC title game in the last two seasons, but there is still a lot of pressure on quarterback Mark Sanchez to lead this team to the Super Bowl. The Colts were pummeled by injuries last season, especially to their receivers, which proved how important Peyton Manning is to that team. The Eagles were willing to bet 5dimes (and more) that Michael Vick can have another great season, but this could be coach Andy Reid's last shot at a title in the City of Brotherly Love. Finally, the Falcons have to show they can bounce back from the trouncing they took at home in the playoffs against the Packers after being unbeatable at the Georgia Dome all season.
San Diego Super Bowl Odds (+1500) should be in the previous tier, but until they get a defense and a running game, they're going nowhere in the AFC. Chicago (+3500) is a surprising longshot after reaching the NFC title game, and you have to wonder if the fallout from Jay Cutler's injured knee against the Packers had something to do with that. Finally, a team to watch is Tampa Bay (+3500), who played well above expectations last season, but failed to beat the better teams they faced. With that experience in their back pocket and an ever-improving quarterback in Josh Freeman, the Buccaneers may be the team to keep an eye on if you're looking for a sports online betting darkhorse.
