Martin Lawrence returns as FBI agent Malcolm Turner in this third outing in the Big Momma's House series. This entry sees Lawrence's cross-dressing alter-ego, Big Momma, heading to an all-girls school with his nephew, Trent (Brandon T. Jackson), in order to hunt down a murderer. John Whitesell directs off a script by Matthew Fogel.
Big Momma (Lawrence) and Charmaine (Jackson) go undercover at an all-girls performing-arts school to unmask a murderer. Love will play Kurtis Kool, a school security guard and former Run-D.M.C. roadie who becomes smitten with Big Momma. Rios, Doubleday and Ang will play students at the school who befriend Jackson's character.
A great deal of this movie was shot down the street from my house (the girls' school in the film is actually Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA) and I'm sad that it'll be a while before I can drive by without thinking of this movie. FBI Agent Malcolm Turner and his 17-year-old nephew Trent go undercover at an all-girls' school for the arts, after Trent witnesses a murder. They pose, respectively, as Big Momma and Charmaine, in order to find evidence incriminating the murderer before he finds them.
There are seven signs of the apocalypse. I think Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son is pestilence. It may also serve as war. I can't decide. It's so hard to interpret signs from God.
Brandon T. Jackson was a minor breakout in the cast ofTropic Thunder, playing the "actual black guy" Alpa Chino but, true to the character he played in the movie, outshone by Robert Downey Jr. in blackface. Since then it's been a tougher road for the guy, with much worse movies-- like Lottery Ticket and Percy Jackson and the Olympians-- filling up his resume. Luckyfor Mr. Jackson, though, we know it can't get much worse. The first trailer for Big Mommas: LIke Father Like Son has hit over at MSN, and if gets worse than this for Jackson or Martin Lawrence or anyone else involved, I'd rather just not know about it.
Big Mommas hits theaters February 18 2011, during that terribly depressing pre-Oscar winter release schedule. It's just going to be another one of those things we have to survive.
